With six runners running only their second high school 5K, the girls did extremely well. The veteran, who usually sets the pace for the girls, was out with illness. So; to do well with little experience is a promising sign of mass improvements that are to come with experience. Coach Graham gave a special nod to not only Lainee Mercer for her efforts but also to Aliya Rosario who broke 24 minutes for the first time and also to teammate Olivia Allen who ran her first varsity race of the season.
The JV girls also made a great showing as the heat of the day took over during their race. All things considered with temperatures and humidity rising as the sun came up, they did wonderful.
The Lady Eagles will be back in action next week at the Seffner Christian Invitational in Lakeland.
